Property Expansion at Herrington Carmichael

Property Expansion at Herrington Carmichael

Herrington Carmichael is expanding its property team as it looks to further enhance its reputation and build upon, what is already, one of the largest property law teams in the region.

The firm and our property team has seen continuous success in recent years, culminating in the property team being named ‘Property Law Firm of the Year’ at the Thames Valley Property Awards in 2019. Our desire to continue our success and build specialists across our full range of property law services will see the creation of a ‘New Build Conveyancing’ team in 2020, led by Annari Holmes. Alongside our new team will be a new look ‘Residential Property’ team led by Joshua Watkins as he steps into the role of ‘Head of Residential Property’. Josh has been a key member of our Real Estate team for a number of years now, as well as being a ‘rising star’ within our international network and currently nominated as a ‘Young person in property’ at the Thames Valley Property Awards.

The firm has seen its reputation on new build conveyancing increase very quickly in recent years with appointments as panel solicitors for the likes of Cala Homes, Croudace, Bellway, Bovis, Barratt, Linden Homes, David Wilson Homes, Radian and more – this has seen us develop a specialist team dedicated to the new build market.

On top of our strong position working in the new build market, we have seen increased shared ownership transactions, as panellists for a number of housing associations throughout the South and South East. Joshua Watkins adds specialisms in lease extensions and enfranchisement matters, as well as rural, waterside and equestrian property to the new Residential Property team. This compliments the team’s already broad offering which also encompasses Help to Buy matters and the financing, sale and purchase of residential property.

The two new teams will sit alongside our successful Real Estate team, led by Tim Hardesty, who continue to deliver quality, complex and high value property transactions involving numerous parties. Their success being recognised by moving up to a Tier 2 ranking by Legal 500.

Yavan Brar, Managing Partner, said:

“The changes have been driven by our own success and our desire to continue to grow our property law services. The ‘New Build’ team has slowly been creating a team of its own over the last few years and with the bounce in the private housing market post pandemic, it now feels like the right time to build for future growth by having two new specialist teams alongside our very successful Real Estate team”.
